What you will need to know
A marriage license can be obtained from the Register of Deeds office in any North Carolina county. The fee in Dare County is $50.00
Dare County Register of Deeds is located at the Dare County Justice Center, 962 Marshall Collins Dr. (off U.S. Hwy 64), Manteo, N. C., 252-473-3438, or visit http://www.co.dare.nc.us/depts/Deeds/marriage.htm for more information. The license is valid for 60 days.
Bring your license to the wedding with 2 witnesses. After the ceremony the officiant and the 2 witnesses will sign it. The wedding officiant keeps the license and returns it to the Register of Deeds in the county in which the license was issued.
For Weddings at Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Ocracoke Lighthouse and all National Park Service Beaches
You must contact The National Park Service. The NPS charges a $100.00 fee for gatherings but does not allow receptions. Please call 252-473-2111 for more info on the NPS or go to http://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/wedding-permits.htm
